What are some career choices that involve diving?

I’ve considered marine biologist for my career once, but I heard from a very wise man that it would be a bad choice (don’t ask the reason). Any cool diving jobs out there?

If you’re a really good swimmer as well you could be a Coast Guard rescue/recovery diver but this would take a lot of training in multiple areas besides just the diving that you’d have to do.

You could also be a scuba instructor, like a person who does scuba certification classes but this would also require some pretty intense first-aid training just like the Coast Guard would have you do.

But kind of as a sidenote the "very wise man" is absolutely right about not doing marine biology: there are so many people that want to go into marine biology that they’re not going to be able to get jobs in the field and they’ll probably end up going into the retail industry and leading rather dissapointing lives (I worked part-time in retail for a while and there are very few incentives to go into that stuff besides the minimum-wage pay)

A friend of mine volunteers for the fire department in his town as a diver. They have a lot of rivers and lakes around, and sometimes they have to go pull out bodies.

Obviously, the most common dive career would be that of dive instructor. Lots of competition, but you can’t beat the work locations!

im a marine biologist and i look foward to work every day. Diving is very fun but it can be very bad for you in the long run. So special diving trips to discover something new wuold be the best thing as a marine biologist.
