At my local community pool, they are offering a Scuba Diving, PADI Certification, there is no age limit to this. I’m a 14yr old male, and this looks like fun since I love being around water. I’m a pretty strong swimmer, but not the best at distance swimming, Does anyone know what kind of stuff they put you through with this, and how difficult it would be for someone like me? thanks!!!
PADI requirements for the Open Water certification are a 200 yard swim, untimed, and a 10 minute tread/float.
After that, it’s classroom work for your knowledge reviews.
At 14, your not eligible for the full OW course, though. You can take the Junior level open water class, however. You need to be 15 for the full OW class.

Hello there,
First of all, congratz for your love for starting a PADI Course. The minimum age for the PADI Open Water Diver Course is 15, however, you can attend the PADI Junior Open Water Diver Course, it is nearly the same. And when you become 15, you can update your certification.
There are some skills in the course that the instructor wants you to master. These skills are the simulations of potential problems that a diver may face during his/her dives. Some of these skills are:
Clearing mask
Clearing your regulator
Finding your regulator
Using the octopus (backup air supply)
Hovering
Fin-pivot
Cramp Removal
And etc…
Prior to your training dives, you should take a theory course, by using the PADI Manual, and the training DVD, PADI RDP (Recreational Dive Planner) and etc. You will have four quizes, and a final exam (quizes are 10 multiple questions each, and the final exam is 50 questions), but don’t worry, they are easy
I think you can handle this course really easily. Ensure that your PADI Insntructor is renewed, and the Dive Center is reliable. Remember that they cannot dive with you more than 18 meters, and the certifiying instructor should be the one who has completed your last training dive.
But ofcourse, these are all for a PADI Open Water Diver Course (to become a certified diver). If you mean a Discover Scuba Diving Program, than, you can dive with this age (minimum 10 required) and what you have to do is just to enjot the dive, breath slowly and continuously, and maybe do some easy and funny skills like finding and replacing your regulator, and partial mask clearing.
King regards
